Victorinox camper, This was my 2nd ever Victorinox (swiss army knife) my first was a classic sd and it was great but after 7 years I gave it away. Some people say that they can rust easily, but I was outside working and I dropped it in a snow drift for 4 days (I could not find it) and then I found it, it was perfectly fine no rust or anything just brushed it off and put it in my pocket! I would recommend any Swiss Army Knife.

Der Camper, damals noch mit der Beschriftung "Camping" war mein erstes Victorinox. Ich besitze es seit rund fünfzig Jahren! Die Klinge ist durch mehrfaches Nachschleifen bereits etwas geschrumpft - ansonsten ist das Messer noch voll funktionstüchtig! Kein bisschen Rost und die Klingen schnappen immer noch mit dem typischen Geräusch zu, obwohl ich es in meinen Pfadfinderjahren und beim Biologiestudium jahrelang beinahe täglich im Einsatz gehabt habe.

mein erstes Victorinox

Seit bald 40 Jahren kaufen wir Victorinox Sackmesser in allen Variationen. Es dürften in der Zwischenzeit 250 bis 300 Stück sein.
Diese Messer begleiteten uns jeweils auf unseren Reisen ( USA, Mexico, Kanada, Chile, Peru ) . Da wir nicht mehr so weit fliegen wollen ist jetzt  Aegypten an der Reihe.
Es sind wunderbare und hilfreiche Geschenke ( oder ein extra Tip das die Bedienung nicht teilen muss oder kann ). Sie erinnern den "Empfänger" an uns und guten Service zu bringen.

I dont do a lot of camping, and as a city slicker I have little to no use for the saw. That having been said , when I do go camping this is a fantastic tool to bring along. The Camper is one of the most iconic SAKs in my opinion. It's really well made and has the tools you need when sitting by the camp fire. The Saw is so much better than I expected. Well done!

A great tool for camping

Really like it's lightweight very useful. The only downside is to is it doesn't have scissors other than that I think it's really a great knife.

Nice

This was my first pocket knife, bought it nearly a decade ago. While I haven't done heavy work with this knife, it's held up very well! Just needs the occasional bath, oiling, and sharpening. None of the tools have failed, and I'm happy to say this knife will last several more decades if taken care of!

Gut geschliffen

Ich habe das Camper letztes Jahr von meiner Großmutter zum Geburtstag bekommen, worüber ich mich sehr gefreut habe. Es hat wirklich alles was man als Campingwerkzeug braucht und vor allem die Holzsäge ist sehr nützlich. Ich trage es im Urlaub und auf Spaziergängen immer bei mir.
Ich kann es sehr empfehlen!

I carried this SAK with me for 3 years until gifting it to a friend, and I can say its very useful and durable. It's a fantastic pocket or keychain multi-tool.

All of the tools are of great quality with my only complaint being that it hurts my fingernail to pull the awl out. The nail nick on the awl faces inward, towards the corkscrew making it difficult to grab.

In the mid 1970's my favourite uncle bought me a camper knife for Christmas, it has saved me from problems many times, from sawing up twigs for a campfire in 1975 to fixing a tyre valve on my little Suzuki car just last year, you just can't beat a great product !! I often think if i'd not had my Victorinox Camper knife how would I have got out of some problems and to be honest....I don't think I would have. Now just recently I'm thinking of upgrading and one thing is for sure it will be Victorinox again for sure, just nothing better....

I bought my Camper when I was 15 in 1985 and has been with me on many deployments overseas when I was in the US Navy. I use it quite frequently still, and as a firearms instructor it always comes in handy for a multitude of tasks.

Lamentablemente yo no les di el uso correcto a las herramientas y dejaron de funcionar correctamente.

He usado esta navaja casi todos los días durante más de 5 años. Es increíble su dureza y resistencia. La utilizo como herramienta muchas veces y jamás me ha defraudado. Ojo que se le puede añadir un destornillador enroscado al sacacorchos y un alfiler. Son accesorios de la marca que se venden por separado.

I have owned two Campers and find it the best balance of blades I actually need and use for both work EDC and camping. The knife withstands hard use and has held up after years of use with no rust or broken parts.

When I travel, I try to always remember to pack this in my checked luggage. I have forfeited several of these to TSA over the years and always feel lost until I get my replacement.

Never without it

I really like this knife but I have one major gripe. The cork screw is useless. I'd greatly prefer to see a phillips screwdriver or small set of scissors in that spot. Other than that it's an awesome knife!

I used one of these camper knifes in the Army.. I used it to cut down small trees, cut rope, make spears, make traps, cut foods and clothing, I even used it to clean and fix my rifle believe it or not.. This is the knife that has given me more results out of all the ones that I have it is also the knife I have put through more work to.. And I'm very impressed with it.. I have now put the knife to rest and is now part of my precious collection. Totally recommend this.. Ohh.. And also, the saw is sharp as it can possibly be..

I've had many Swiss Army knives through out my life but keep coming back to the camper knife as it's a do it all multi tool,robust and ultra usable. I use mine mainly at work where it does many small tasks around the workshop and is often borrowed by others so I have to be careful it is returned! The non locking blade can be a safety issue for new users but this marks it out as a poket knife not an offensive weapon. The main blade starts out razor sharp but soon needs sharpening if abused,the tip can break off again if abused but generally is a solid cutting blade. The screw drivers are as useful as the blades too although I've still to find a use for the small right angle blade. The corkscrew is very useful too as its always to hand at a party and quite strong in use. The wood saw is also very useful being sharp and well designed but it can clog up with debris if used on green timber,but again it isn't a problem in daily use. 
 All together a great all round poket knife,well done Victorinox!

Some years ago I bought this handy and very useful knife -- and I wasn't disappointed at all! As I wanted a Swiss Army Knife which isn't too thick so it fits still easily in a pocket but which contains a wood saw, I decided to get the Camper.
This tool contains (almost) everything one could need in everyday life, the blades are very efficient and don't need to be sharpened more than once a year, and the wood saw is just magnificent, so that I use it quite often! Every tool works fine and is high-quality. In my view, the Camper's got the best proportions in thickness and length. The only thing which I have to critisize a bit is that the handles get scratched easily, but fortunately they can be replaced.
Speaking of replaced: I replaced some days ago my Camper (which I am still very happy with, so I carry it everyday in my bag) by the Victorinox Ranger -- I was of the mind I needed some scissors at my knife.

Excellent knife!

I bought this knife at Target a few years ago, and this has been used extensively outdoors. Besides the corkscrew which I believe to be useless for my purposes, every tool has been useful for different purposes. My favorite tool is the little saw that it comes with, and being an outdoorsman I use it a lot. The blade came very sharp out of box and it sharpens easily when necessary and the steel is very rust resistant. Overall great useful knife. I highly recommend it to fellow outdoorsmen.

All you need to know about the Camper: It´s small size means that you will actually bring it with you.  Should be in everyones survival kit! With this knife you can prune your fruit tree´s, cut some small sticks for your campfire, construct an emergency shelter and make yourself a walkingstick if you twisted your foot. Saw blade and Can Opener identical to the ones on the Alox modells. Very nice to have one extra blade. Back scale will carry a needle next to the corkscrew (not included, just a tip...) Corkscrew will carry mini-screw driver, (recommended for anyone with glasses, not included.) The Camper can be upgraded to Plus scales if you are a bit handy and want a pen with you. (You can buy Original Plus scales on the internet.) Awl can be used to sow a tent shut or a busted zipper, which can save your life in Artic conditions. Cablestripper comes in handy if you need to jump start a car. Non locable blade makes it legal in almost every country as long as you behave sensibly with it. A good gift for a kid over the age of 11. Make sure to add a ferro-rod fire starter, metall whistle, mini-LED flashlight to the key-ring. Red handle makes it easy to locate in snow, bush or even water.

Great tool to have

I'm a knife carrying gun toting kinda Girl:) I have many knives, small large & some really extra large, lol All different kinds & varying types of blades. I'm a sucker for a good pocket knife though so it's hard to believe that I've never owned a Swiss Army knife but it's true. Until today that is I got the Camper in black and it's absolutely amazing! Definitely not disappointed. The quality is outstanding and truly one of a kind. Would for sure recommend this knife! It's an exceptional tool and I'm very glad I can finally add this to my collection. Think I'm going to start a whole new separate collection of just Victorinox Swiss Army knifes:))

Excellent knives, I own 5 different models including the camper,farmer, tinker,cadet,and the rambler. The camper is extremely welcome at my campsite. It handles most chores without being too bulky. The cellidor handles are very tough.My tinker handles lasted 30 plus years until I stored them next to my stove fuel,which warped them. New handles were under $10 shipped and took about a minute to replace. The best thing about Victorinox is that you can choose whichever models suits you. Get the one you like, it will last a lifetime.

Best friend you'll ever have

This was my first Swiss Army knife given to me by my grandfather when I was 8. I used it religiously until I lost it at 16. I missed the utility of this tool so much that when I got into the work force at 18, I had to go buy myself a brand new one. I carry it everyday and everywhere I go. Mine now has 7 years of use and abuse and it is still working like brand new.

My dad gave me this knife for my first Girl Scout camping trip. I think I was just a tween. It has since seen me through many camping trips, 3 natural disasters, and endless babysitting adventures where the phrase "Can you open/cut/peel this?" was repeated so often I now give my mom-to-be friends a single blade pocket knife with that quote engraved on it with - Every child ever

20+ years of perfection!

I am in south africa and i use my little camper hard everyday either cutting tubes with the saw or main blade or cutting cordage or cutting wood whatever needs to be cut it will be cut with the camper. I am mainly writing this review for a interested first time victorinox buyer. Victorinox make products that are of THE higest quality in the market. I have collected knives for some time trying to find the best knife possible. Victorinox will offer you quality in a time and age where quality is considered a privelage rather than what sould be expected. Buy a victorinox doesnt matter which one you will not look back. There is something wonderfully satisfying in buying an item that simply works brilliantly.

extremely useful edc

I've had several Campers over the years (which were lost) and wonder how "ordinary" people live without them as I often use it 5 xs a day for different purposes. I'm writing to register suggestions. Early models had a Phillips head screwdriver (option?) which I used constantly, instead of a corkscrew (IF you need one in a pinch, PUSH the cork in with a stick!) The can opener can substitute in a pinch, but then you dull that blade, and I broke my last tip doing that, ALSO the early Phillips had a slit in the head (for opening sardine cans?) which was a SUPER useful tool for bending metal. I wrote Switzerland to express my concern that this was dropped, and they politely wrote back, that, yes, it was. Who hauls a bottle of wine around that doesn't bring a corkscrew?!??!! BRING BACK THE PHILLIPS HEAD -- PLEASE ! ! ! P.S~ Don't think you need a saw? Think again, because when you DO, it's a lifesaver !

Can't live without it.

The camper is in my pocket since i was 14 years old. perfect for use everyday, holiday and scout camps anywhere you can go. I used it on mountain hikes in the alps the ardenn and it always came through without any problems. Use it with sense and it will last for ever. I also have 2 or three bigger victorinox knifes for tougher jobs but they are therfor bigger in your pocket. This one i can recommend to everyone.

good old toolbox

These kind of tools and their shape can be employed for a number of tasks beyond what their name suggests. I once used the reamer as a gouge to carve wood. The corkscrew can be used to untie knots, as elsewhere suggested, as well as for any small task requiring a pointy tip. Cap lifter, flat & phillips screwdrivers, can opener, hook or scraper at a pinch and possibly more. The woodsaw is something there's no way of improvising if you don't have one. Two blades. The thing is lightweight and compact—thus, handy. Handier when precision is needed.

Downside is the tendency to wear down of this steel, if used (or maybe rather, abused) against anything too hard. For tougher tasks I use a heavy duty multitool instead.
As it is it's really stainless though. You can wash it, dry it with a towel and not worry about rust.

Great but....

I recently purchased this knife because I was going camping and really wanted a new Victorinox to use and see exactly how much I could achieve with it. I had a blast carving, making marshmellow/hotdog cooking sticks, building my new bbq, etc.... This knife/tool really saved the trip because I had a brand new bbq grill that needed to be assembled and I had the right tools to put it together. The knives once again are extremely sharp right out of the package and having 2 different sizes of knives gives you a better variety of cutting/carving options. I used the cork screw a few times to undo knots on my tent and of course the bottle opener to get those beers open. The saw is very capable of cutting branches and creating those things needed at a campground. Fun tool and extremely useful.

Fun tool for a great camping experience

I always wanted to have Swiss Army Knife. And because I am still a student with low income (I study forestry), I was thinking to pay more for better or to pay less for good. However, money situation decided and instead of Forester I have bought a Camper. Of course, Forester is much bigger and has many functions but honestly I am really happy what Camper offers for now. And I am sure some day I ll go for Forester as well. Very convinient knife and if you never had a Swiss Army knife before, like myself, I recommend you to start with this one, then you can give it your brother, sister, son, daughter.. and buy a improved one!

First knife

I asked for this knife for my 18th birthday present, and since I got it, it hasn't left my side. Whenever I'm at home, it's useful for any little thing, or cutting through layers of packing tape on boxes. I use it at least once a day, and love the small safety a knife like this gives me.
This is my new favourite 'toy' and can't wait to actually go camping or hiking to use it.
The tools are are very smooth, and go back to their places in the handle with barely a sound.
As my first Victorinox purchase, I am very pleased with what I got. This shall always be nearby for the next decade or so.

First Knife Ever

I've had this knife for about a year and I can't say I'm not satisfied. It's a beautiful looking knife in its own way but the performance is outstanding! Easily top of the range, if you're looking for a new knife, this is the one! It's also such good quality for such a good price!

Brilliant Knife

I remember being given a ‘Camper’ knife for y eleventh birthday, just before going up to Scouts, and this, or one of its several successors has remained in my back pocket almost ever since.
I like the fact it has two blades, I tend to try and keep the smaller one for ‘good’ and the larger for more rugged work, the big flat blade screwdriver and crown-capper are great for prising things open, and the narrower bladed tool/ can opener are just that little bit more precise.
The Awl is great for making holes – exactly the sort of thing that usually breaks the tip off conventional flat blades, and almost best of all, a corkscrew, which can’t be improvised by anything else.
I use the saw loads of times, it’s just as happy sawing through fine branches as it is going through cardboard tubes etc – the tweezers and toothpick are an added bonus.
Whilst there’s smaller, lighter models available in my view this is the ‘bare minimum’, in my view lesser knives don't proide enough and more complex ones offer added weight and novelty value without significant advantage

I carry this beauty around for a couple of years now, I cannot imagine a trip without it.
If you like the Spartan, you'll love the Camper. It's almost the same but it has a sawblade.

Dieses Messer bekam ich als kleiner junge, etwa im Alter von 6 oder 7 Jahren. Es war ein Geschenk meiner Mutter, weil ich wie die anderen Jungen etwas für die Schulwanderungen haben wollte. Der Preis war für uns damals nicht unerheblich, umso toller fand ich die Geste meiner Mutter. Etwas so wertvolles hatte ich noch nie bekommen. Ich liebte das Messer und es war lange Zeit mein einzigstes Werkzeug. Geschnitten hab ich mich nie. Umso trauriger war ich, als ich es gut 10 Jahre später abends am Strand verlor. Trotz suche am nächsten Morgen war es nicht mehr zu finden.
Wenige Jahre später verdiente ich meine eigenes Geld und fand, ich brächste ein neues Messer. Natürlich musste es das selbe wie damals sein. In meiner Heimatstadt fand ich schnell einen Laden, der welche vorrätig hatte. Ich rechnete mit einem deutlich höheren Preis als früher, aber erstaulicherweise war der Preis fast der selbe wie damals. Eine unglaubliche Leistung von Victorinox, ein solches Qualitätsmesser so günstig und gleichzeitig Preisstabil anbieten zu können.
Ich denke jeder Junge sollte ab einem gewissen Alter einen Camper (oder die neueren, My first Victorinox Modelle) bekommen. Es lehrt einen ein stück Verantwortung im dem Ungang mit Dingen, mit denen man vorsichtig umgehen muss.
Ich kann den Kauf nur empfehlen, es hinterlässt eine wunderbare Erinnerung.

mein erstes Messer

Heureux possesseur de ce couteau depuis une vingtaine d'années, il a vécu moults aventurez à les côtés et n'a jamais rechigné à la tâche... Du scoutisme au bricolage, du sciage de branche au perçage d'un ceinturon, de l'ouverture de boîte de conserve et canette au partage du saucisson, ce couteau est mon compagnon de tous les jours et de tous les instants!

Hab mir vor einem Jahr dieses Modell in ecoline Ausführung auf einem Jahrmarkt gekauft und hab es nicht bereut.
Durch die rauhe Oberfläche ist es schön griffig und man muss keine angst haben,das man bei starker Beanspruchung die hochglanzpollierte Oberfläche,wie bei den anderen Modellen zerkratzt.
Die eingebaute Säge macht das Messer zu einem Allrounder und ist ideal für Waldwanderungen,Camping usw.
Wenn ich es mal nicht bei mir hab,fühl ich mich irgendwie nackt :D
Durch die lebenslange Garantie wird man ewig Freude an diesem Knife haben ;)

bester Begleiter

My grandmother purchased this knife for me 18 years ago when I first became a Boy Scout. I still have this knife and I still carry it daily. It is a little worn, but that is to be expected. The large blade is missing its tip, but that it because I was using it for something it was not meant to do haha. Indispensable en la naturaleza

this is my first knife i bought for myself. it has great tool combinations for everyday use. the blades and the tools can endure much abuse, must have if you like camping or hiking. its sleekness-quantity of tools ratio makes it a considerable everyday carry knife.

Good overall tool

My parents bought me one of these, with the 'Camping' inlaid symbol on the handle, when I was 13 in 1979. It was a great knife, and much used and abused. I managed to break the tips off both blades when throwing it into trees, but ground these back into shape. I rarely used the saw, though, so think carefully before buying a knife with this feature. Unfortunately I lost it in North Wales on a Duke of Edinburgh's Award Gold trip in 1984, which wasn't the knife's fault. I replaced it straightaway with a Climber model, which had much more useful scissors in place of the saw.

A much-missed present

Das ist mein erstes großes Victorinoxmesser.
Das Messer habe ich mit 15 jahren gekauft. Ich habe es während meiner Ausbildung und später auch im Beruf als Elektriker oft eingesetzt und war immer sehr sehr zufrieden. Auch diverse Kollegen haben es sich gerne mal für 5 Minuten geliehen.
Ich habe es mehrere Jahre wirklcih fast täglich benutzt und es hat heute weder Klingenspiel, noch sind die Federn zu schwach, keine Korrosion und es ist auch nichts gebrochen. Dieses "kleine" Messer habe ich wirklcih gefordert und es hat mich niemals im Stich gelassen.

Victorinox Swiss Army Knife: Camper Adition

Camper is basically Spartan + saw. Perfect combination for campers. As I have only nice words for Spartan, for Camper is the same. Perfect tools, high quality tools, sharp blades, sharp saw, which can cut wood without problems, and usual Victorinox tools make this knife one of things that must be in your back pack for camping. After 3 years and lot of usage outdoors, it shows only small scratches, but it still didn't lose sharpness. One of Victorinox you should have in your collection.

Siempre tengo una camper a mano. Me parece que tiene el punto intermedio entre el ancho y la cantidad de herramientas de una navaja correcto. La calidad, como siempre es excelente, parecen irrompibles y super afiladas. En cuanto a las herramientas, son las que necesito, quizá le iría bien una tijera, pero supongo que se quedaría un pelín más ancha como la huntsman. El precio está más que ajustado.

El punto medio

I worked in the construction field for over 15 years and used this knife more than any other tool I owned.
Over the years I broke the saw blade and chipped the end of the bottle opener blade.
I sent it off to be repaired and it came back as if I had just bought a new one.

Excelent All Purpose Knife

I have used Swiss Army knives for over 40 years. The Camper series is an excellent choice for a general purpose pocket knife. Small enough to carry in your pocket without being a nuisance, but has enough blades to accomplish most projects that arise in the outdoors. I highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed. Careful, it's VERY sharp! I espically like the hole saw. It's the best I have ever seen. Get a good pocket steel (available from Vistorinox). When you sharpen the blades, also sharpen the hole saw. Good hunting!

The best that money can buy

This is my first knife and it is brilliant I would recommend this knife to any one who likes camping and just generally a good knife. Only one complaint is the cork screw plucked my pocket trousers and then I bought one of them screwdriver which screws into the cork screw and it now is amazing.

My first knife

This was my first knife, given to me way back in '86, when i was 12. My uncle, a scout master, bought it for me and said it has all the tools I'd ever need...albeit the corkscrew (at that age). Boy was he right! I've used this to install sound systems in my cars, fix my home theater and for various home improvements. That corkscrew eventually came in handy as I started enjoying wine as I grew up. In fact, I've never used any other corkscrew! I've sawed off 2x4's with that amazing saw, and that awl/reamer has been used countless of times on woodwork.
Sadly, the tip of the main has broken off as i used it to pry off something that was embedded in one of my tires. Finally, I'm deciding to retire this particular knife. For 26 years, I couldn't have asked for more from this fantastic knife. Thank you for making a great one, Victorinox!

First Knife

I've had this knife for about a month now and I'm more than pleased with it. I've used all its tools and all perform outstanding, the blades are razor sharp,the saw cuts a thick sapling in no time the large screwdriver is very solid and all in all the quality is great sturdy tool and defenetly recomended.
My tip: you can find replacement corkscrew screwdrifvers in victorinox stores and you can atatch it:D its a very usefut litle gizmo that screwdriver.
Tip 2 find the pinhole near the corkscrew base and insert a pin in it I ve found it useful in many situations.
The only minor drawback is that the cellidor handle tends to get fine scraches immediatly but that's not so bad it only makes it a bit matte.
My next Vic. maybe will be the farmer alox wich is like this one without the corkscrew and it has thicker blades and alox grip scales.

A GREAT EDC

Esta navaja me acompaña en todo lugar, en expediciones al aire libre y en la ciudad.
Después de varios años de uso puedo decir que es muy equilibrada en tamaño, calidad y prestaciones. Tiene las herramientas necesarias en un tamaño compacto y cómodo.
Muy recomendable para quienes gustan de las expediciones al aire libre y una excelente herramienta en la ciudad.
