This knife is missing a trick or three.

No pen, no tweezers. No smaller blade, miss the scissors.

The presumption on this knife, is I'm gonna need to saw wood. Which if I did need to do a lot of that, if carry a different tool.

What I want is a good strong useful blade, a smaller tougher blade/pry.

Scissors are always missed when not available.

Otherwise, this is not a bad knife. A good sized blade with lock.  
I notice it's not the better tin opener, it's your other one. 

The scales are good n grippy.

All items open easily, except the same blade, which I fou d I need to pick up from the end of the knife, rather than a nail grove. The big blade with a decent thumb hole, opens really easy, I find I still need to finish off two handed, as it doesn't pop open all the way (not for me anyways).

The price point makes this a great option for cadets ... I'd have loved this back when I was a cadet. 

The wavy blade makes cutting different materials easy. Sometimes some don't like a smooth blade, but this wavy works well 

I still think a smaller date, with a smaller smooth blade/pry. I'd have it lock too, rather than the screwdriver.

This is my first victorinox. This lives in my EDC bag that goes with me on my camps, the blade is great and sharp plus can be opened with one hand, the saw rips through wood, all in all perfect for camps and a main knife.

Habe mir dieses Messer für meine Bushcraft-Aktivitäten zugelegt. Ein Messer/Werkzeug mit nur wenigen Funkionen. Bin überrascht was dieses Messer für eine tolle Qualität hat. Das Handling und die Schärfe sind unglaublich gut. Darauf hin, habe ich noch ein ganz kleines Classic SD gekauft... die gleiche Präzision und Qualität. Toll das es das gibt. Eigentlich braucht man nicht mehr - damit ist man überall gut gerüstet... mir fehlt zum perfekten Messer der Korkenzieher (dafür gibt es selbstverständlich ein anderes Victorinox Modell).

Ein Messer mit topp Haptik, scharfer Klinge und ausgezeichneter Säge. Der Kreuzschraubenzieher funktioniert gut, wie auch die Aale und die beiden Schraubendreher. Liegt gut in der Hand! Sehr empfehlenswert!

Topp Messer

Es hat alles, was wichtig ist. Der fehlende Korkenzieher wird durch den Kreuzschlitz-Schraubendreher mehr als aufgewogen.
Natürlich hat Victorinox auch die - gefühlt - Zwei-Kilo-Messer mit allen denkbaren Funktionen im Programm, aber die passen dann nicht mehr so gut in meine Hosentasche.

Top Soldatenmesser, vom Profi für den Profi

Dernier rescapé de ma collection de couteaux suisses, disparue lors d'un cambriolage. Ce couteau est devenu mon compagnon d'infortune, toujours dans les bons coups, les petits bricolages, les petits travaux, ou encore la réalisation de jouets en vacances pour ma fille (surtout des radeaux). Je n'ai pas d'avis purement technique sur ce couteau, il est plus que ça. Comme votre paire de basket préférée, ou votre sac à dos préféré pour aller en forêt.
Et comme c'est le dernier qu'il me reste, c'est aussi un peu Highlander.

He tenido una Soldier en mi día a día desde su lanzamiento en 2009 y puedo decir sin temor a equivocarme que es la mejor navaja utilitaria que puede existir. Que su filo sea tipo cincel la hace súper cortante y su filo perlado la hace muy versátil. Si eres de los que prefieren filo liso, dale una oportunidad al filo de esta Soldier, no habrá vuelta atrás.

Top Messer

I bought mine in 2010 and it has done everything I have needed it to. The serrated edge is good for cutting rope which I need to do occasionally on my boats. The one handed blade opening feature is perfect.

The liner lock is the best locking mechanism I've used so far!

There is not one tool on this knife that I do not use regularly.

The only downside is that the rubber parts of the scales are starting to disintegrate and fall apart.

I still give it 5 stars!

This is an all round good quality knife, although the serrated blade just isn't very good. I find it tares rather than cuts, the is a small straight edge section although this is at the base so not best positioned, would be better to have at the point end.

Très bon canif destiné à la base aux soldats suisses.
Je n'ai pas grand chose à spécifier sinon qu'il aurait été utile d'y placer avec un cure-dents et une pince à épiler, pince qui peut être utile à s'ôter des échardes dans la peau.
Cela reste un canif pour soldats, toutefois valable pour tout le monde.
De plus, il assez petit pour tenir dans une poche, compact et léger, et il tient bien en mains.

This is a great outdoor knife and has everything you need but the corkscrew.  The one hand opening blade is great!
This is my first large SAK and I felt uncomfortable carrying in in my pocket.  It was just to big for me.  I bought a belt pouch and problem solved!

So ein praktisches Messer hatte ich während meiner Armeezeit nicht. Es liegt sehr gut in der Hand. Sehr gut der grosse Schraubendreher, der unter Belastung gesichert wird. Da kann man auch festsitzende Schrauben lösen. Ein weiteres  Plus die Säge .

Ich habe das Soldatenmesser 08 wie die Meisten schweizer Männer in der Armee erhalten. Es hat mich zuverlässig durch meine Zeit im Dienst begleitet und auch darüber hinaus in der Freizeit. Es ist nun 8 Jahre alt und funktioniert trotz minimaler Pflege noch einwandfrei. 

Das Messer ist ein absolut würdiger Nachfolger für das alte Modell.

La porto para salir al campo y es perfecta. Tiene todo lo que necesitas. Es una navaja muy chula.

Esta fue mi primera Victorinox, y es mi favorita, la compre a un precio un poco alto, cerca del doble de lo que cuesta en linea, la tengo cerca de 5 años (año marcado en cuchillo) y es la navaja que mas ha sido abusada porque la he utilizado para muchísimas cosas, soy ingeniero agrónomo y un entusiasta del montanismo, el primer día que la utilicé fue para cortar un cinturón de seguridad de un vehículo volteado, cortó ese cinturón como que fuera papel.

La calidad es excelente, sus herramientas son más fuertes que en otros modelos, la única desventaja que le encuentro es que es difícil de afilar y que no tiene mondadientes ni pinzas pero otros modelos tienen filo liso y palillos/pinzas. (VICTORINOX OH TREKKER NS).

DESPUES DE 5 AÑOS DE USO, EL CUCHILLO PRINCIPAL PRESENTA UN PEQUEÑO MOVIMIENTO FRONTAL PERO  DESPUÉS DE TODO LO QUE HA CORTADO NO ME PREOCUPA QUE FALLE EL BLOQUEO.

TENGO 6 NAVAJAS Y 5 CUCHILLOS GRANDES Y SIEMPRE QUE VOY AL CAMPO LLEVO MI NAVAJA DEL SOLDADO YA SEA SOLA O CON ALGUNA OTRA HERRAMIENTA.

The knife is great after all, i love the liner lock and overall size of it, it is not too thick or thin. The handle fits great in my hand with the blade opened, i can confidently use the single hand feature of the blade with some practice. Sadly the only thing i don't like of this knife is there is no other option for the blade, i hope that in the future i can see a similar Swiss army knife with two blades, one that is half serrated and one that is not serrated with the single hand feature with a similar price maybe around 520 HKD

Equipamento muito bom, com empunhadura perfeita. Muito versátil. O cabo é muito confortável. Abertura macia das ferramentas. A chave Philips é muito boa.

Para mí es uno de los mejores modelos de navaja que he probado.
El diseño es muy ergonomico, es una navaja muy cómoda de usar, además cuenta con secciones de goma en la cancha que la hace muy ergonomica para la mano.
Las funciones son las necesarias, lo cual hace que sea muy fácil seleccionar una rápidamente, además el orificio en la hoja principal es algo muy útil, ya que es muy rápido sacar la hoja.
La navaja es muy resistente, en verdad mucho, además la hoja retiene el filo durante mucho tiempo. La sierra es simplemente excepcional, al grado que hay que tener mucho cuidado al usarla.
El tamaño de la navaja es muy bueno, hace que la navaja sea multifuncional y el tamaño de la sierra la hace muy útil.
La hoja tiene gran parte de filo dentado lo cual es muy útil en muchas circunstancias, pero en ciertas citaciones puede llegar a sobrar, personalmente no me gusta para cortes de carne (ya que me gusta mucho cocinar en exteriores).
Pero algo que me parece perfecto en esta navaja es que cumple su objetivo: es multifuncional; tanto si eres cazador, te gustan las actividades al aire libre, trabajas en campo, o te desarrollas en ámbitos militares, es una navaja que no te va a decepcionar.

Lo mejor para profesionales

Superbe couteau pour un randonneur. L'avoir avec soi c'est l'assurance de pas être pris au dépourvu. L'ouverture à une main est vraiment très pratique, son poids est aussi léger que son prix et son emcombrement est vraiment réduit, compte tenu de toutes ses fonctionnalités.
C'est LE couteau à avoir sur soi tout le temps.

Desde el 2013 que la compre, la he puesto a prueba día a día. Es mas probable que olvide el celular que mis dos victorinox (uso una clasic tambien). Suelo viajar por todo mi país en busca de minerales y en varias ocasiones por no tener otra herramientas a mano, he usado en especial el destornillador plano para cosas como hacer palanca, soltar rocas y para escavar agujeros en el suelo. También amo los deportes de montaña y salir a acampar, la he usado para abrir grietas en madera, desconchar cocos, pelar animales, encender fogatas, cortar cuerdas, etc. Puedo decir que he usado cada una de sus funciones en estos 2 años y después de tanto tiempo se ha ganado mi respeto la calidad de las navajas suizas.
Descubrí que esta hecha para el maltrato, para enfrentar la situación que se le encomiende y sin echarse atrás. Las cachas ya las tengo peladas y rayadas, al igual que las herramientas, pero su hoja después de un repaso queda como con filo de fabrica, ¡¡¡hasta afeita!!! y sus herramientas después de una aceitada hacen su bello click.
Algo mas, la goma negra de los bordes de las cachas es el mejor avance que han implementado, por que la he dejado caer muchas veces, en una ocasión en un risco de unos 10 metros, reboto varias veces y cuando fui por ella no tenia mas que unos rayones. Esa goma amortigua los impactos y evita que las cachas se quiebre, ademas de dar una sensación de comodidad y sujeción durante el uso.

Hablando de su filo dentado, es otro gol que han anotado. Es mucho mas practico en la zona superior que en la inferior, esto ayuda muchísimo a la hora de cortar cosas como cuerdas, fibras, mangueras y cosas que requieren de repetición de movimientos. El filo liso cerca de la mano ayuda a tener mas precisión a la hora de hacer muescas en madera, a realizar cortes limpios cuando se pelan cosas como cables, frutas o madera. La razon por la que le doy un 4 al asunto del filo, no es por que sea malo sino por que sin importar que afilador uses, a la hora de afilar la parte dentada, esta va perdiendo su forma redonda y se va ovalando, pero se que es algo inevitable.

La razon por la que compre una clasic es por que la soldier no tiene palillo de dientes ni pinzas, es uno de los contras que le veo a este modelo.

La sierra corta la madera mejor que cualquier serrucho, no se traba y devora la madera mas rápido de lo que te puedes imaginar. Despues de tanto uso es un milagro que los dientes no se han desafilado, si los presionas con un poco de fuerza se clavan en tu piel asi que parece que puedes serruchar muuucho tiempo antes que requiera algo mantenimiento en esa parte.

Y el destornillador plano bloqueable es la herramienta mas solida que van a encontrar, la he usado para todo menos para los tornillos hahaha. Cuando la abres y el bloqueo suena, siente la solidez del seguro. La puedes usar para hacer palanca y separar piezas pegadas, para golpear y rajar cosas, abrir botellas, para cincelar, como espátula y si quieres... para los tornillos. Es la herramienta mas multifacetica que posee y es indestructible.

Dieses Messer ist gut verarbeitet und robust.
Es liegt gut und sicher in der Hand, auch bei Feutigkeit, was es seiner Gummierung zu verdanken hat.
Die stabiele und scharfe Klinge lässt sich mit einer Hand gut öffnen, was im Einsatz sehr praktisch ist.
Es ist ein Messer, das alle wichtigen Grundwerkzeuge vereint. Als einziges Manko, empfinde ich, ist der mittig platzierte Schraubendreher, der an den Enden besser einsetzbar wäre.

As the heading says, I have the German Army Knife (GAK) variant.

Pros
It's light for a big knife.
Fits snugly and securely in the watch pocket (small pocket) of my jeans.
It's really different from the other knives I own - has the german army coat of arms (eagle).
The reamer doesn't hit the key ring when closing like some other models (it dulls the tip).
The main blade is awesome for cutting if your hand motion is moving away from you (which is more practical for outdoors).
I prefer the serrations on the end of the main blade because 1. For carving, you get more force having the flat surface closer to your hand and 2. For cutting through meat, bread etc its better to have the serrations on the far end as a flat end would grip, tear and make a mess.
One hand opening of main blade is fast and easy.
The blade locks and so too does the bottle opener.
The screwdriver is not on the end, which makes it good for getting into tight spaces especially if you're lying on your back and unscrewing something facing upwards.
The saw is amazing. The best in a multitool that I've ever used.

Cons
Reamer doesn't have a hole.
I cut my finger using the reamer to make a hole in a belt. (it worked superbly though). The blade part is a bit too long and should offer 2mm more protection at the base.
No slots for toothpick nor tweezers.
The olive drab colour makes it a bit difficult to find if you drop it in the bush.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

German Army Knife

My first Soldier knife I purchased in 1985 it's still in daily use. However I rather like the new 08 Soldier. So after 39 years I purchased one. This knife is an absolute joy to use and admire. The one hand operation of the blade is easy to master. The blade as usual is very sharp.
This knife is a worthy successor to the earlier Soldier.

Simply superb.

This knife cost $70 Australian, I am very happy with its value for money With a very sharp factory edge, excellent wood saw, and very good can and bottle openers the screw driver is not the best though and the reamer is way to hard to remove. I also wish it came in a fully smooth edge version, im not a fan of the serrations.

Ich habe mir das Messer vor einem Jahr in gekauft. ich wollte unbedingt einmal ein neues 111mm Victorinox testen. Als ich es zum ersten mal in den Händen hielt war ich sehr überrascht. es war viel hantlicher als ich gedacht habe. nach einigem Testen ist mir jedoch aufgefallen, dass die Klinge SEHR viel spiel hat und das horizontal wie vertikal. Ein weiterer Minuspunkt ist die Klinge. Sie ist scharf genug. jedoch verstehe ich nich wieso dass man den Wellenschliff von der Mitte bis zur Spitze macht. ich habe viel lieber Messer in meinen Händen, welche näher beim Griff den wellenschliff hat, denn das erleichtert das Schneiden von Seilen oder Ähnlichem enorm! Zudem hat man keine richtige Spitze welche genaues Arbeiten erlaubt! zudem Vermisse ich enen Gürtelclip welches pratkisches tragen in der Hosentsche erlaubt! Auch der Zahnstocher und die Pinzette Fehlen meiner Meinung nach. Zudem wäre eine Nadel/ "Güfeli" praktisch. Kurz gesagt: Ich habe mehr erwartet von einem Soldatenmesser! würde mich freuen wenn in Zukunft weniger Klingenspiel vorhanden wäre und der Wellenschliff anders positioniert ist!

Tiene un excelente y resistente filo. Se agradece que tenga un bloqueo de la hoja. Me encanta el manejo de la función de la apertura con una sola mano de la hoja desde la mano izquierda para cuando tengas la derecha ocupada. La sierra es sorprendente.
