Mein treuer Begleiter.
Vielseitig und klein. Das Messer ist unglaublich scharf und die Naglefeile kann auch für Eisen oder Holz zum Entgraten genutzt werden.
Natürlich auch für Fingernägel (feilen soll ja besser sein als schneiden).
Für alles, was ich mit dem Taschenmesser nicht machen kann, brauche ich eh richtiges Werkzeug aus dem Werkzeugkasten.

Mittlerweile begleitet mich mein Sportsman seit über 15 Jahren so gut wie täglich in meiner Hosentasche und das einzige was mir wirklich fehlt ist die 84mm Schere wie beim alten Golfer.

Super Alltagsmesser

This knife has all of the tools that most people need.  Nail care and a cork screw for opening wine bottles.  The knife blade stays sharp and the tweezers come in handy here in Southern California for cactus spines.  I carry mine every day and don't feel dressed without it.

J'ai acheté ce couteau pour l'offrir en cadeau à un proche qui l'a immédiatement adopté. Sa taille compact, son poids plume et la bonne quantité d'outils en font un couteau remarquable. Si on ajoute le mini-tournevis ainsi qu'un cordon il est tout simplement parfais pour un usage quotidien. Si vous cherché un cadeau pour faire plaisir à coups sûr, n'hésitez pas.

Auch dieses Victorinox ist ein gutes Messer. Es hat für mich eine angenehme Grösse.
Leider hat es einen Mangel, vielleicht einen Konstruktionsfehler: Die Feile schleift beim Öffnen und Schließen an der Klinge und verkratzt sie damit. Das ist sehr ärgerlich.

Super Sackmesser. Enthält viele Funktionen, sieht gut aus und der Preis stimmt absolut.

Perfekt

Seit bald 3 Jahren besitze ich ein Victorinox "Sportsman rot/-grün" welches ich an einer Veranstaltung, als Werbegeschenk erhielt. Seither bin ich ein Victorinox-Fan und habe mir diverse Messer, verschiedener Gössen zugelegt. Von den 2 Layern mit nicht feststekkbarer Klinge, sind die Modelle "Tinker", "Spartan", "Tourist" und "Spartan" die idealsten.  Es sind eigentlich die Brotkorb-Modelle von Victorinox, welche in jeden Haushalt gehören.

Ein ideales Messer für den Alltag

J'ai plus de cinquante cinq ans... Combien de couteaux suisses? Je ne sais pas. Ce que je sais : égaux à eux-mêmes, jamais décevants, toujours performants à la hauteur de ce qu'on leur demande, résistants, discrets en poche, efficaces en main... Il font le job, pas crâneurs, avec le sens du service.

I bought this knife after Christmas, remembering my old knife, out of the box the knifes red plastic covers were not bright and shinny, either the main blade or small blade are not straight, when I open one of them it grinds against them other, I was told their is not an exchange problem, return this one and reorder, not a good customer service policy

out of the box issues

Acheté il y a environ 40 ans lors de mon premier voyage en Suisse, j’ai perdu ce modèle, et je l’avais remplacé par le «Recruit», qui n’a pas de tire-bouchon. Si le «Recruit» m’accompagne au quotidien dans mon sac à main, le «Sportsman» est réservé pour mes activités lors d’événements sportifs ou autres, où je suis souvent dehors, avec les défis que cela comporte! À la fin d’une course, par. ex., il faut couper tous les cordons de sécurité et les serre-câbles des banderoles, et là, il est très utile, alors qu’initialement j’avais le «Classique» avec moi, qui est trop petit pour cette utilisation. 
Contrairement à l’ancienne version, la plus actuelle ne comporte à ma déception plus de tournevis intégré dans le tire-bouchon (on peut toutefois l’acheter séparément). Ce tournevis était destiné à régler les lunettes de l’armée suisse, mais les lunettes d’armée n’ayant plus de vis, il ne fait plus partie de ce couteau. Mais vu qu’il y a d’autres objets avec petites vis, ou simplement d’anciennes lunettes, c’est dommage. 
Comme disait un autre utilisateur, ce serait bien de mettre le coté rugueux de la lime de l’autre coté, pour qu’elle ne touche pas la lame de couteau quand on manipule un des deux.
On peut le faire graver à ses initiales, ce qui est pratique quand on le prête pour le reconnaître.
Quand je suis «de service» pour une mission de bénévolat lors d’une course, je me retrouve parfois dans la forêt, à un carrefour, au relais... et je ne prends que mon portable et ce couteau avec un mousqueton pour être parée à toutes les éventualités!

Ich stand vor der Wahl, welches Victorinox wird 2019 mein ständiger Begleiter! Es sollte klein, aber nicht zu klein sein, schmal und leicht sein, aber trotzdem sollte es alle Werkzeuge haben, die ich so im Alltag brauchen könnte.
Die Wahl fiel auf zwei Modelle, die ich immer abwechselnd bei mir habe. Das Eine ist ein Cadet 2018 in rot und das Zweite, das besagte Sportsman.

In Kombination mit meinem geliebten Signature, das ich seit Jahren am Schlüsselbund habe, ist das Sportsman die absolut richtige Wahl für mich. Die Verarbeitung und Funktion ist wie gewohnt perfekt.

Trotzdem gibt es einen Stern Abzug, obwohl es schon fünf Sterne verdient, aber

1) wollte ich ein Modell mit neuer Feile, wie bereits im Onlineshop abgebildet, bekommen habe ich aber leider das "alte" Maodell und

2) finde ich es schade, daß man bei den 84er Modellen die färbigen Schalen eingestellt hat. Da wäre eine Neuauflage super!

Der perfekte Begleiter

I was pleasantly surprised by this little wonder. Historically, a long time admirer, but never an owner until recently. This was purchased to have something "just in case." Enter, the Sportsman. Mine has the matte nylon scales, but is otherwise the exact same. What a well crafted, high quality little tool! It has *slightly* fewer functions than what I'm used to, but it is very flexible in its uses, with some creative thinking. It is a joy to carry, well designed and built, and seems to have just the answer to those "what now?" situations. I am very glad I purchased it. It has opened my eyes to the rest of the Victorinox lineup, seeing as I would love some more functions to suit my lifestyle and surroundings. But, with the Sportsman in my pocket, I by no means feel unprepared for any situation that might arise. I am very satisfied with my purchase, and look forward to using it every day. Thank you Victorinox for outstanding value in this superb little tool.

A lot, in and for, a little.

La lame et assez grande , les outils nécessaires sont là mais ça aurait été bien d'avoir un stylo . Il ne prend pas beaucoup de place et n'est pas lourd.

The sportsman knife,in my opinion doesn't get the respect it deserves.
It is so generic looking that people look at the bigger, fancier models instead. That's a shame,because the sportsman has most of the tools you need everyday, in a slightly scaled down package. I bought the cadet because it disappears into a pocket unnoticed. The sportsman does the same thing, plus you get a corkscrew that holds the eyeglass screwdriver, the awl, the straight pin, tweezers, and toothpick for half the price!!! No its not dressy like the cadet. It's generic looking,which is good, because it doesn't attract ANY attention. These days that's a great idea.

Overlooked

I take this in my pocket every day, it is always handy for everything.

Daily Driver

I am on my fifth or sixth of these, due to losing the others. It is the perfect size, not too small or too big and has all the features I ever need for emergency jobs. I can't see the need for two blades and I find the nail file essential for ongoing personal grooming as well as for mechanical use. As a professional carpenter this knife is used almost daily in my work, marking out, fiddling with screws, removing staples etc etc etc. The combination of functions makes this knife "nearly perfect" whereas all the others have superfluous complications. If you were going to buy one and only one Swiss Army Knife this would be it!

The only improvement would be the addition of scissors, however complementing this should be having the small classic, which has the scissors, which is the second best pocket knife...ever.

The Best Pocket Knife Ever

This very fine compact knife is excellent. It is small enough to fit into a pocket without being obvious.
The blade is extremely sharp, the corkscrew exceedingly good, as are the other tools.
I managed to purchase this knife from an old gunshop at an extremely competitive price.

Maybe the best in the 84mm range.
Great swiss quality, but has a big flaw-
the nailfile is facing the main blade and scratches it everytime you open and close the file.
I also bought the micro screwdriver that you put in the corkscrew, the victorinox stainless pin and a small Victorinox pocket pouch.
all together it makes a great allarounder pocket knife that is legal carry in UK and very light and compact for pocket carry.
The design of the can opener allows to use the tip for phillips screws, so besides scissors there is all i need for EDC.
I like to carry this when i am not far from home or when i want to have a very discreet small pocket knife without the need of a belt pouch and barely noticeable in pocket.
Ballpoint pen and scissors would be a great idea for 84mm knives, sadly none of them have it.
This knife is not easy to get, i only could get it by one very well known online store in UK.

Like a mini Spartan with nailfile

I bought this knife two years ago and now I can't fell at ease without it in my pocket. It has a good balance between basic needed tools in everyday use and size/weight of the knife. And also good looking...
As a consequence I bought several SPORTSMAN knives and gave them as gifts to my friends.
I use to hyke every summer in my native Carpathian Mountains and it was really usefull when I camped outdoor. The con is the lack of blocking device for the blade; that's why I'm planning to buy a RUCKSACK pocket knive or an OUTRIDER, because - based on my camping experience - these combination of tools would fit better with mountain hyking: not too heavy, but enough tools to be really usefull.
The only problem is the difficulty to find these models in my town.

Mi tercera victorinox

I've bought this knife when i started university, basically 'cause i needed a can and a wine opener and nothing more. I chose the ecoline version because i liked the less bright red color as well as the rougher surface, providing somewhat better grip.
I ended up using it for a whole lot of tasks from installing computer components, through preparing food to replacing a door...
It is immensely durable. After all those years, all that harsh treatment like key ring carrying, going without cleaning for years(!), used for prying things open it's still in great shape, everything works, nothing's loose, nothing's broken. The handle plastic has a few dents in it and the logo is almost worn of but that should be expected after so many years in a pocket next to a set of keys. Also I believe (I might be wrong) that the plastic might have gotten darker over the years, but i actually prefer it this way.
Also the steel is great, no sign of corrosion at all though cutting a lot of lemon, lime and other acidic stuff. It didn't bend or chip at all, not even the can opener.
Probably most of You know, but for those who don't: the reamer makes for an excellent wine capsule cutter (have to admit i open more wine than do leather work)

All-in-all i have to say I have to say I made a great choice buying this little knife and although i bought other, more expensive knives, and tools with more functions but this is the one that cannot be replaced.

It is Swiss. It is a classic.

Has been in my pocket for eight years and will stay there

I had this Knife for 2 weeks and it has proven to be very useful. It has only 13 features but I have found a lot of use for them, especially the cap opener with screwdriver, a good intergrated tool. The main problem is that there isn't any scissors. I wouldn't mind paying a few more more swiss francs to have it.

Good But could be better

it's a very good knife; it isn't just only one or two tools, like spartan or classic, and it isn't a pocket knife that's more a backpack knive, like swisschamp. But with scissors it was much better...
