Swissness as part of our heritage and the key to our future
Here in the Swiss Knife Valley we feel close ties to the land around us. From celebrating the glory of its mountains to protecting its natural resources, Switzerland is part and parcel of our identity. Equally, our little red knife has become an icon of Swissness, synonymous with the functionality and efficiency for which the Swiss are known. We are proud to be connected to Switzerland and that’s why we are dedicating the next few months to the topic of Swissness and heritage.
We celebrate our own heritage by taking a look at some of the hidden treasures in our archives. We also interview a collector from China, who has lovingly curated his own part of our history and heritage.
But celebrating Swissness and heritage does not just mean looking backwards. We examine innovation at Victorinox, from the most imaginative prototype knives to the process we follow to foster new ideas.
Our Switzerland is also one that is rooted in design and creativity. From one Swiss icon to another, we collaborate with the artist Piroska Szönye, who has dedicated herself to bringing the fictional character of Heidi to life.
We see Swissness as both part of our heritage and the key to our future. It gives us a very great joy to celebrate this topic during the coming weeks and months.
