C’est pour moi, l’un des sak, les plus polyvalents en urbain, avec mes problèmes de vue, la loupe m’est très utile et fait très bien son travail.
Les ciseaux sont, à mon avis, les meilleurs qui existe, je n’utilise rien d’autre.
Seul petit bémol, Victorinox, pourrait, à défaut de le mettre d’office, proposer en pièce détachée, l’épinglé et en option les cotes + pour avoir le stylo, ce serait dans ce cas l’objet parfait  à mon goût.

Explorer parfait en urbain

Ce n'est pas le premier couteau Victorinox que je possède, mais cette fois ci je souhaitais d'autres fonctions.
Je suis très satisfait du couteau que j'ai commandé et il n'y a pas un jour sans que je l'utilise.

I bought this knife a couple years ago from Victorinox website.I really have enjoyed it a lot the magnifying glass pieces fell out of my knife but Victorinox told me to send it in for warranty I just haven’t done it yet otherwise I’m pretty pleased with this tool setup.

I have owned about 10 of these knives
Every few years I loose one. I can go about 3 days before I have to buy another one. 
I use this knife several times every day 
The layout is perfect
The Philips comes out of the end so you can get good torque. The blades are sharp and keep an edge. All the tools work great and I use them all even the hook which was a surprise when it came out. The older I get I find I use the magnifying glass more and more. The workman ship is excellent and has always been so. I have never had one break in anyway. 
I can’t recommend it enough 
And don’t forget the corkscrew which I use almost everyday
In my mind combination of tools and size make this the best model

Best knife ever

The knife is well made and functions great. The only gripe I have to complain about is the cheap nylon sheath with a clip on it. This sheath should not of even been put in the package with the knife because I consider it an insult to the quality of the knife itself. It does not stay snapped, it is poorly stitched cheap nylon and the belt clip is totally useless as it does not stay on a belt if you bend, move or just slightly catch it on something. I will be quickly replacing the sheath with an a better aftermarket one so I don't loose this quality multi tool knife which I know I will with this sheath. I think Victorinox could have done much better on a cloth or leather sheath then this one because it is simply useless. Why make a quality knife and then throw in a useless sheath?

Dieses Messer ist noch so kompakt, dass es sich für immer dabei zu haben bestens eignet. Für mich ist die Lupe und der Mehrzweckhaken sehr nützlich und ein Kaufargument.

The Explorer is probably the "coolest" SAK. The tools it includes give you a valid reason to EDC a four layered SAK. Super enjoyable Swiss army knife..

The best 4 layered SAK for an urban environment

Ich erhielt es, es enthielt aber leider keine Lupe. Bestellt hatte ich das Explorer Taschenmesser über die Website, wie üblich. Zurücksenden wollte ich es nicht. Ich ging damit zum Zürcher Flagshipstore und zeigte ihnen meine Bestellung via Website - diese gaben mir anstandslos ein neues Sackmesser, nunmehr wirklich ein Explorer, und gravierten es auch (das war es vorher auch gewesen). Sie sagten mir, die Gravur sehe etwas anders bzw. etwas fetter aus, aber ich stellte nichts fest. Ich finde das einen Hammerservice, was Victorinox hier geleistet hat. Es können ja überall Fehler passieren - das ist völlig normal. Aber dann anstandslos alles korrigieren und das vor Ort, keine Formulare ausfüllen, nicht das Taschenmesser zuerst einsenden - das ist wirklich 1 A und spricht sehr stark für Victorinox!

Sehr gut

Nach langem überlegen kaufte ich mir das Explorer. Ich hatte glück und fand bei meinem Messerschmied in Burgdorf noch die Limitierte Edition 2020 mit den Plus-Schalen, Stecknadel, Kugelschreiber und dem Mini Schraubenzieher. Ich hatte bis anhin sehr viele Victorinox Messer, mit Säge, Zange, Licht etc. Was ich damit sagen will ist das diese Art von Messer auch super sind aber sie sind halt dann in der Hosentasche auch für mich einfach zu gross, klobig. Und wenn ich schon Outdoor gehe dann nehm ich mir ein Beil mit oder Klappsäge und zusätzlich eine Lampe. Und jetzt kommt das Explorer: Du hast einen Philips Schraubendreher und was wahnsinnig gut ist, eine Lupe! Man kann mit dieser ein Feuer entfachen, bei Wunden den Dreck mit der Pinzette entfernen oder mal ein Insekt oder die Natur vergrössern. Es ist einfach ein wunderbares Tool das zum entdecken einläd. Für mich ist es der Inbegriff vom treuen Begleiter fürs Leben. Ich bin glücklich mit meiner Wahl :-)

Ultimatives EDC Messer

Da ich regelmäßig in der Natur bin und direkt an der Nordseeküste im Norden von Niedersachsen wohne, besitzt das von mir bestellte und gelieferte Victorinox Taschenmesser genau das,was ich benötige.

Super

All-in-all is quite good for the city, but I think that for the plus scales could be better. Also the magnifying glass can fall out easily, pay attention to it.
But my main complain about this knife is the phillips screwdriver. It is way too big. In my mind if I have a SAK with a philips screwdriver I should be able to take apart my laptop, a keyboard, a mouse or some other toys, but with this one it is impossible (except if I file down most of the tip). I also have an Outrider, and the screwdriver on that is fantastic. I can screw almost every phillips scews with that (laptop, keyboard, door, even a wrist watch). I would like to have the screwdriver from the Outrider on this. Also most of the things that this big screwdriver can do, can be done with the can opener (and the Outrider screwdriver). The tip does not fit in most screws, and if the screw is a little bit sunken, then it is even worse, because the head is widened for easier access. Smaller head and thin arm...

Ok as an EDC, but expected more

For the past twenty years or so , my EDC is the Explorer Plus. The Explorer Plus is not made anymore... It adds the tiny corkscrew screwdriver and puts a ball point pen in the scale.  And super important, the Phillips head is inline (out the end).

First of all, if anyone from Vixtorinox is reading this, having the screwdriver come out the side, like the awl, is a non-starter. Total fail. Have you ever tried to use a screwdriver out the side to work on machinery or projects?  It's awkward and slow, to the point of being unusable.  Why do so many of the knives not have the inline Philips head?!  Even the Tinker and the Handyman, ESPECIALLY, don't get an inline Phillips head. That's crazy wrong.

But back to the the Explorer. Just about a perfect SAK for me. Good balance of utility and weight. I use every single tool on it.  The inline Philips head probably most of all. I wish that it had the saw, in addition to everything else, but I'm not going to get my wish.  I even use the magnifying glass frequently... But I really wish we could get the old gray plastic frame with the actual GLASS optics.  The plastic MG is very cheap and scratches easily.  This cheap little detail that saved 49 cents is a faux pas.  I'd pay another $5 for this to get a good MG.

But, details, details. Overall, the Explorer is excellent. I have been carrying a Vixtorinox SAK for about forty years now!  I think I am on my sixth one. 

Hey Victorinox.... What about a removable scale that's ferrocerrium for a firestarter. Actually one scale could be magnesium and one a firesteel. THAT would be awesome.
The SURVIVAL EXPLORER!!

The Explorer is my EDC

Je suis technicien SAV et je dois dire que j'utilise tous les jours mon explorer depuis plus de dix ans.
La loupe est géniale car elle me permet de lire les ampérages sur les micro fusibles.
Le tournevis "philips" est excellent et permet de travailler sans endommager les têtes de vis.
Le crochet me permet de tirer des câbles dans les gaines, et l'ouvre boites est génial pour même peler des oranges

Simplicité efficacité

The Explorer is my new favourite 4-layer SAK. The inline Philips screwdriver is super functional and easy to use compared to the back layer perpendicular Philips found in the Tinker. The mag lens isn't really for magnifying small print but I suppose you could use it for that. The glass lens does make fire if you have sunlight and you know what you're doing. And no SAK is complete without the scissors (for me), and these work great. There's so much goodness in 4 layers that my head's about to explode!
I also added the mini screwdriver in the corkscrew. I do use it often enough, so it was worth the few bucks to add it to my Explorer. I don't see how anyone would regret buying this SAK. It would also make a great gift or stocking stuffer for a loved one. And it's definitely one to add if you're a collector.

4-Layer Perfection

Vorneweg: Der Service von Victorinox, der Versand ( der Aufwand der Versandverpackung ) bekommt die maximale anzahl aller zur verfügung stehenden Sterne. Für das Messer selbst die Mechanik und die dafür verwendeten Materialien, sind nicht zu übertreffen. A Piece of Art. könnte ich mir wünschen. Wenn da nicht das grauenvolle Plastik aus der die Lupe als ganzes daherkommt wäre. Victorinox, macht bitte eine gescheitere Lupe in dieses ansonsten makeloses Produkt. Gutes, stabiles Plastik als Fassung wie in euren Messern vor 20 Jahren, und dann bitte eine Glaslupe!! Dann wäre das "Explorer" eine wahre Freude. Also so ist es für mich schwierig eine Empfehlung für speziell dieses Messer abzugeben.

What a useful addition to my edc rotation! This knife fills in all the gaps of my smaller SAKs. The inline Phillips screwdriver, and the magnifying glass are particularly useful for my work. 
 Being a SAK, I have no problems using these knives in front of people. They are not scary and their utilitarian design put people at ease.
The quality,  of course, is superior, as you would expect from the Swiss.
 I'm grateful for the pride and craftsmanship that goes into all of these knives.

15 mesi di servizio nelle truppe  alpine.
Sono un alpinista, escursionista, scialpinista e cicloviaggiatore.
Posso quindi affermare con sicurezza che i Victorinox sono i migliori coltelli tascabili al mondo. Robusti, efficienti.
In questi 41 anni ho solamente sostituito la molla delle forbici e le guancette a causa di alcune cadute. La lama comprensibilmente è consumata in seguito alle numerose affilature e gli strumenti hanno acquistato un po’ di gioco.
Aspetti negativi: 
Lama grande un po’ misera/ striminzita. Preferirei più larga e robusta.
La lente è l’unico strumento che non ho mai usato. Inutile 
Il mio vecchio modello fortunatamente non ha il gancio. Anche questo inutile

Coltello robusto dalle molteplici funzioni. Comodo e non troppo grande.

Es ist ein Modell zu empfehlen. Wenn ich wieder ein Victorinox-Produkt kaufen muss, werde ich es auf dieser Website tun!

Einfach SUPER; immer wieder!

I Love this knife! My aunt gave it to me for Christmas of 2019 and I absolutely love it! I got the one where it also comes with a pouch. The pouch is nice and made with quality materials. The knife is made of good steel and was really smooth opening right out of the box! The last couple SAK’s I’ve bought have all been easy to open but not to easy. By this I mean it’s not going to come open easily, but I can open it without breaking my finger nail in half, like I’ve had happen with other multi tools. Overall it’s a great knife all around!

Um canivete que serve para praticamente tudo, aliado à combinação de ferramentas não tão extensa mas que se complementa muito bem. A chave philips é o destaque do canivete, muito fácil de ser manejada devido à posição que ocupa, além de ser um canivete com tesoura o que o complementa ainda mais. Super recomendável, no meu ponto de vista um canivete que atende a necessidade de praticamente qualquer tipo de pessoa.

Esta fue mi primer navaja y es la que uso día a dia,  es una de las mejores para mi gusto, tiene las herramientas necesarias para arreglar cualquier inconveniente que pueda surgir en un día normal y es compacta, yo solo le agregaría una sierra para madera para que sea perfecta.

Buenas herramientas para uso diario

L'explorer est pour moi le meilleur compromis entre les gros modèles, qui sont de vrais caisses à outils très pratiques mais impossible à rentrer dans une poche et les petits modèles qu'on peut emporter partout mais qui n'ont pas forcement tous les outils dont j'ai besoin. En particulier c'est le plus petit modèle à avoir à la fois un tournevis cruciforme et un tire bouchon pour ranger un tournevis pour lunettes, ce sont les deux outils que j'utilise le plus. La seule chose qui lui manque c'est une lime à ongle, un modèle avec une lime à la place de la petite lame (comme sur les modèles évolution) serait vraiment le couteau suisse parfait.

Le meilleur compromis taille utilitée

Modello davvero originale rispetto agli altri, la lente e il cacciavite a croce in linea lo caratterizzano e lo rendono utilissimo nella vita di tutti i giorni. Unica pecca è che avrei preferito acquistare la versione plus per avere la penna, ma sembra introvabile.

Bello ed originale

Ce couteau suisse est original et extrêmement pratique pour le photographe animalier et botaniste amateur que je suis (merci pour l’excellente nouvelle loupe, même si le plastique qui l’entoure pourrait être avantageusement remplacé par du métal, ce qui ferait un peu plus suisse !) Il manque 4 petites choses à ce couteau pour être parfait: 1) une scie à bois (souvent utile dans la nature, par exemple pour couper quelques branchages pour construire un petit affût de camouflage), 2) une petite lime double face (qui pourrait comporter, en son extrémité un petit tournevis supplémentaire et remplacer la petite lame que je n’utilise jamais, la lame principale étant suffisante), 3) le petit tournevis que j’ai dû acquérir séparément et ajouter à l’intérieur du tire-bouchon (ce n’est pas vraiment une lacune puisqu’on peut l’acheter) et 4) un ressort des ciseaux comme celui des couteaux Wenger (meilleur système). Les couteaux de style Wenger disposent de la petite lime qui manque assez cruellement sur les couteaux de style Victorinox. À bientôt pour un modèle supplémentaire ainsi complété, devenant alors vraiment parfait pour moi et pour tous ceux qui pratiquent les mêmes activités que moi.

Très bon, mais perfectible

At least it's the perfect one for me. It hits just the right balance of versatility and size/weight.  The inline Phillips is one of the best features, and most of the other tools find uses from time to time.  It also shrugs off all the abuse I subject it to, like cutting wire with the scissors.  This will be my third purchase of this knife.  The only reason I still don't have the other two is that I forgot to take them out of my pocket before going through the security checkpoint at the airport.

The perfect pocketknife

Many are uncertain how they would use the magnifier. As an electrical engineer who often needs to inspect small components or solder joints on circuit boards, or read part numbers off of tiny chips, it is one of my favorite tools, and I consider the magnifier loupe more useful than the tiny and very limited flashlight on the Traveller Lite, which has an almost identical toolset, but at triple the cost due to the addition of the flashlight and digital watch/electronics scale. The inline Philips is also a major improvement in both usability and robustness over the backspring Philips on the Tinker series, and also doesn't sacrifice the corkscrew and mini-screwdriver accessory. At 4 layers thick, the size and weight are pushing the limits of what I would consider comfortable to carry in the pocket, but at the same time I recognize the utility of the small blade and the separate bottle/can openers for the two sizes of slotted screwdriver they provide. That said, if Vic ever decided to re-release the lighter, 3-layer Yoeman model or 2-layer scientist, which compresses the blades and can/bottle openers into a single large blade and a combo tool, I think that could be an even more practical option for an every day pocket knife.

Inline Philips and magnifier make it an almost ideal tool for an electrical engineer.

Alles dran was man braucht! Die Rückseite des Hakens könnte noch eine Nagelfeile vertragen.

Universallösung

Ich bin begeistert vom Explorer. Die Qualität ist, wie immer, sehr gut.
Er passt gut in meinen Büroalltag im Informatikbereich. Dazu bringt er alle wesentlichen Funktionen mit, wie die beiden Messer, die Schraubendreher und eine Schere.
Meine Variante hat zusätzlich die Plus-Schalen mit dem nützlichen Kugelschreiber.

For me, the Explorer is the Indiana Jones of the Victorinox lineup...pure adventure but mighty handy to bail you out of a jam.    I suppose it's a pocket friendly Swisschamp!

If You are looking at the Explorer, You are probably interested in a not to heavy knife with a pair of scissors, a Phillips and a magnifying glass. 

*** Compared to the Super Tinker: 
You might also have looked at the Super Tinker. It has got a pair of scissors and a Phillips, and has got a lower weight: 84 g (3 layers). But it hasn't got a magnifying glass. And the inline Phillips of the Explorer model is more handy.

*** Compared to the Evolution 23:
You might also have been looking at the Evolution 23 model, which has got a pair of scissors and a magnifying glass. The Evolution 23 has got a more robust pair of scissors, since the spring of the pair of scissors of the Explorer is somewhat sensitive to damage. It has also on the magnifying glas got a more extended small screwdriver, 3.5 mm, more useful than the very short version on the can opener of the Explorer. But it misses the Phillips - the magnifying glass being unnecessarily extended and using up the space where the Phillips is situated in the Explorer. And it has also got a wood saw, which makes it even heavier: 110 g (5 layers). 

*** Compared to the Yeoman:
So the Explorer is for the present moment the best solution if You want a pair of scissors, a Phillips and a magnifying glass. But it is unnecessarily heavy: 101 g (4 layers). There was earlier a model called the Yeoman. It had got all the funktions of the Explorer, but compressed into 3 layers, weighing 85 g, by using the combination tool (bottle opener + can opener + big screw driver) of the Compact model and only one knife blade, only missing the small screwdriver, 3 mm. But this is nevertheless to short for most applications. So the Yeoman would be an even better choice. I hope Victorinox soon will reintroduce it in production.

*** Finishing remarks: 
Maybe Victorinox could even consider using the more robust pair of scissors from the Evolution series in the Yeoman. And complement it with a long small screwdriver (2-3 mm) at the backside, a micro screwdriver in the corkscrew, and a pin. That would make the perfect knife.

Comparison to similar models

I recently got my Explorer and I love it.  It is still a “carry in your pocket” size knife that has all you need for a normal activity city day.
Up to today I have used all tools but the wire stripper and the reamer.
This would be a perfect knife to carry in your jeans pocket all day long!  I recommend you get  the PLUS version with eyeglasses screwdriver, pen and pin... I DID!

All purpose still pocket knife

Tengo varias navajas Victorinox y regalé varias también. Ahora solo uso 2, una Hércules mod. 0.8543 y 2 Explorer, una común y otra Explorer Plus Negra que es la que uso diariamente. Las que usé y después regalé fueron: Huntsman, regalé 2, Huntsman Light y Deluxe Thinker. También tuve la Cybertools de 34 funciones. Aparte tengo un primo que las colecciona y siempre me está mostrando sus nuevas navajas de 91 mm y 110 mm traídas directamente de Suiza, así que puedo tenerlas en mi propia mano y compararlas a varias. Ahora tengo 2 Explorer, una color negra y Plus y la otra común + las cachas rojas Plus guardadas de repuesto, más otros accesorios como minidestornilladores, anillas, alfileres y escarbadientes, más 1 par de cachas rojas plus por supuesto, no tengo la pinza quita aguijones pero eso no me interesa, otras Fundas Originales con compartimientos internos para las Linternas Maglite Solitaire Led... De todas esas... sin duda le doy todas las fichas a la Explorer. Cada uno busque la que quiera, pero para mi esta es la mejor, así de fácil.

La mejor

I bought two of them within the past 15 years and I use it as my key ring. This is (after hours of consideration and research), the most practical and useful swiss knife I know of. Except for the hook thing and the magnifying glass, all the other tools are extremely useful for me.
The plastic of the body is still a bit brittle for me and I had to add the mini screw driver that slots in the cork screw.
With these recommendation, the ultimate Swiss knife could take life.

Wie der Name schon sagt, hat das Explorer alles um neus zu entdecken. Als EDC in der Hosentasche hat man alles dabei, was man so braucht. Ich habe es immer dabei und schon viele Probleme gelöst. Ich kann es nur empfehlen!

Researched for a long time and found this which almost has interesting tool combination...so I placed my order... Not sure I will have that money when it gets here because I am just an old fashioned fella living in the village with my sweaty income which can't pay bills... But want to feel one in my hands just once... It is one of my dream favorite...and good day to all people out there...

Very practical

I've been carrying Victorinox knives every day since August, 1961. What with wear and tear, losses and accidents, that's a lot of knives. And several models.

Then the Explorer came out and I've been using it exclusively ever since. There isn't a tool that hasn't proven its worth, although I first bought it just for the magnifier. I'm a physicist, and having a convenient lens in my pocket to examine small parts and the like is a great help. As my age advanced and my vision retreated a bit, it's become a necessity even with prescription reading glasses.

The "package hook" is much more than that (see many videos on the Net and Google the tool). People have asked me how much weight it will hold. Standard answer: more than you can lift.

That corkscrew has opened a lot of bottles, and the wire stripper helped fix a lot of electrical gizmos. The "package hook" has twisted a lot of wires to fit on attachment screws over the years.

And the straight Phillips screwdriver has saved the day many a day.

What would I like to see? A file, pliers, and a saw. But that would make it too big for EDC.

Does (almost) everything!

This knife is the best Swiss Army knife I have ever bought. Because every single other knife I get is either bad or the craftsmanship is horrible but this is great! You can't go wrong with victoinox anyways I think it has everything I need including a firestarter (magnifying glass) although I would have preferred a saw instead of scissors

Fantastic knife

A lot of people say, "if that Swiss Army knife only had this tool." Well for me the Explorer has it all...at least all that I want in a Swiss Army knife. Some of the high points for me is the inline Phillips, scissors and magnifier glass. I like vintage so I feel fortunate that the one I picked up is circa late 1970's. what this means for me is even more to like about the tools I use the most. The scissors has the old screw for the pin. The magnifier is the old gray with higher magnification and glass, the corkscrew is fluted and the inline Phillips is, well, super handy and much better than the standard bottom mounted Phillips. I also know that size is a big deal for most people as well but for me the explorer is the perfect size for my pocket too. I also have the Swiss champ and super tinker and this one just feels the most comfortable. I did also buy a new explorer as a gift for my brother and he loves his too. It is also well built and will most certainly last a lifetime. You can't go wrong with the explorer. Does it have everything you want? Maybe not for you but for me it's perfect!

Excelente navaja muy comoda, tiene el tamaño perfecto para llevarla a diario ya sea en el cinturon o en un bolso de mano.

I went several years without a Swiss Army knife, but recently purchased the Explorer. As a photographer and filmmaker (who often travels) I find that I now use the knife every day for variety of tasks. For me, it's a perfect blend of tools in a small package.

I Use It Every Day

What can possibly go wrong with an Victorinox Explorer in your pocket? Well, not much, as long as you are still in an urban area. The scale one the backside of this knife, will carry a needle next to the corkscrew, not included, (just a tip...) The corkscrew will carry a mini-screwdriver, recommended for anyone with glases, (not included). The scales can be upgraded to Plus scales if you are a bit handy, original scales can be bought off the internet. Plus scales will let you carry a pen with you! Magnifing glass strenght is 5x. Can be used as a firestarter if you know what you are doing. Scissors are very large and good. Phillips screw-driver on the side, is the best place to have them, in terms of usability. Awl can be used to sow a tent shut or close a busted zipper, which can save your life if it´s cold. The hook can be used to twist metall wire, hold the pen in place, turn the knife into an smart-phone stand and thighten shoe laces. Red handles makes the knife easy to find, in snow, bush or ever under water. Make sure to add a mini LED-flashlight, a metall whistle and a ferro-rod fire starter to the keyring and you´ll be up for anything!

Recibí esta navaja como regalo en 1999 y la llevo en el bolsillo desde entonces. Desgraciadamente el año pasado me la confiscaron en un control de seguridad y, aunque no podré recuperar el valor sentimental del regalo, no dudé en comprar el mismo modelo de nuevo: es casi imprescindible en el día a día. 
Recientemente le he cambiado la cacha trasera para añadirle bolígrafo y alfiler.

und eine tolle Alternative zum SwissTool X als Alltagsbegleiter. Habe hier zusätzlich noch den Mini-Schraubendreher für den Korkenzieher ergänzt. Für den täglichen Gebrauch, wenn ich das SchwissTool nicht am Mann trage der perfekte Begleiter. Alle wichtigen Werkzeuge immer dabei und dennoch eine handliche Grösse. Vor allem auf den  Kreuzschraubendreher, Schere und die Lupe habe ich wert gelegt. So muss ich nicht täglich das Schwisstol tragen und habe trotzdem alles dabei was wichtig ist.

Sono un soccorritore volontario 118, faccio servizio sulle piste da sci d'inverno e in un resort montano d'estate e questo coltello e sempre nella tasca della mia giacca. Lente e pinzette vanno bene per estrarre spine o pungiglioni d'insetti.
Lama e forbici si utilizzano sempre.
Ho scelto questo modello perché abbina un vero cacciavite a croce e il cavaturaccioli che uso anche per allentare nodi.
Preferirei la lima per unghie al posto della lama piccola (c'è già quella grande).
Il punteruolo potrebbe servire così come il gancio multi funzione ma fino ad ora non li ho mai usati.
Non compatto in assoluto ma compatto per il numero di strumenti. 
Nel mio caso peso e misura non sono un problema perché lo porto nella giacca o zaino quando sono di servizio.

I took my Explorer to Bosnia in 1995 where I worked in humanitarian aid. I used it in many ways many times a day every day until I recently lost it. Now I have it's replacement. It is still the best value for a pocket knife that I can find. Generally I don't need a fixed blade knife nor a heavy toolbox of a multi-tool; my Explorer does just fine. ...and the corkscrew makes a picnic with my wife that much better. GO BUY THIS KNIFE NOW!

Outstanding knife of great value

The victorinox explorer is by far the best model of swiss army knife so far.
the small size makes it very portable, but in my opinion it has all the best tools.

Nice swiss knife perfect for every use. It's always in my bag, I can use it for hunt, fishing, work, homemade work, reparation, also for prepare a sandwich. I think that every man need to have one like this in their pocket.

I have to agree with the reviewer who said that, during an airline flight, he feels naked without his Swiss Army Knife. I think that I have had this one ( officier suisse) for about 25 years, now. I use it almost every day; if I can't fix something with this knife, if doesn't get fixed! The blades, sizzors, reamer, wine opener, screwdrivers, and now the magnifier (as I get older). It is the handiest thing that I own, and I am ordering a new Explorer to replace it with, as the old one is finally getting a bit too "beaten up".

I feel naked without it.

I bought this knife in 2009 in Switzerland. I carry it every day and use it almost every day. The quality is great. The blade holds an edge better than other knives I've owned. I've used all extensions on the knife and have had No issues. I Love this knife.

BEST OF THE KNIFES SIZE AND USES

Have had mine for 22 years, and use it multiple times a day. Knives are very sharp and easy to maintain (resharpens quickly and easily). Funny, would like to get a new one, but find nothing wrong with current one to buy another :)

Best quality... PERIOD! I have been using this pocket knife for 25 years. My wife bought it for me for our 5th wedding anniversary, and other than the normal wearable/replaceable issues (lost toothpick, tweezers and scissors spring broke about 15 years into ownership, all easily found/replaceable), this knife holds it's edge and has been sharpened many times without any ill effects to the blade. HIGHLY Recommend this knife and Victorinox brand, without reservation!!!

25 Years And Still Going

Hace cerca de un año compré este modelo de navaja porque ya había tenido una igual y me la robaron, pero la nueva tenía la lupa en material transparente lo que me llamó la atención, pero tenía la marca grabada y hacía el Click característico de la marca, pero tres semana atrás de manera inexplicable se le rebentó el resorte que controla la hoja principal y fuí al centro de venta en San Diego pero me remitieron a otra parte, yo vivo en un municipio cercano a Medellín pero no viajo constantemente, qué puedo hacer o con quién hablar para ver la garantía del producto?

One problem only

Despues de usar varias navajas Victorinox,cada una para una funcion concreta,la Victorinox Explorer es una buena candidata,para ser la compañera diaria para la ciudad,a pesar de tener 4 capas,su tamaño es razonable y no se nota su peso,cortar una cuerda,apretar un tornillo rebelde con su destornillador Phillips o abrir una botella de vino son algunas de sus virtudes.Digna candidata de Macguiver.

I owned 1 Swiss Army knife that was a great until I lost it at work, about 25 years ago. I then bought the Explorer Plus to replace it and it too has served me well. I especially like the fact that no matter where I go I have a magnifying glass. I've astounded people numerous times when I've gotten a splinter & whipped out the pin & glass to get it out. I also use the glass to check out antiques when I go shopping for them.

Great buy

I've carried, and used, this knife daily for over 10 yrs. It's right at the upper limit for bulk, but I've become accustomed to the reassuring weight in my pants pocket and notice immediately if it falls out. That's important since my house keys are attached. I don't really need the second small knife blade as I keep the main blade pretty sharp, but having a backup edge lets me get lazy about sharpening the big blade on occasion. IMHO, if the small knife blade were replaced with a saw blade or, even better, a file with a saw edge, this would be the "perfect" pocket knife. The Explorer is also the only model with the magnifying lens, one of the most useful features for reading tiny, tiny print or digging out a splinter. The only time I leave this knife behind is when I fly and then I feel naked.

Das Messer habe ich 2005 in der Schweiz gekauft. Ich hatte noch Franken und die Rückfahrt nach Deutschland stand an. Tja am Bahnhof habe ich dann für das restliche Geld das Messer gekauft.
Seit dem ist es immer in meinem Tagesrucksack den ich für Arbeit, Studium, Kurztrips etc brauche. Es hat mir bei vielen Alltäglichen Aufgaben geholfen. Optional habe ich mir noch einen Minischraubendreher, den man im Korkenzieher intigrieren kann gekauft.
Damit habe ich immerhin 2 mal Laptops nahezu komplett zerlegt und wieder funktionstüchtig zusammengebaut. Auch viele andere Reperaturen wurden damit gemacht.
Mein täglicher Begleiter im urbanen Leben.
Einfach super!

MIt der Lupe kann man wirklich Feuer machen ;-) Hab es schon 2 mal geschafft.

Conozco la navajas Victorinox desde mi infancia. Y como todo lo bueno tuve que esperar a tener mi primer Victorinox.
Cuando tuve la oportunidad de elegir, me decidí por la Explorer. No me equivoqué.
Cuando voy de pesca, en mi casa, en la calle, en mi auto siempre respondió como lo esperaba.
Mi Victorinox está siempre lista en mi cinturón y cada vez que la uso, me recuerdo que hice una gran elección.

I bought my Explorer after having carried first a Tinker, then a Super Tinker for many years.

I had run into several situations in which I could not use the T-handle #2 Phillips screwdriver on either of those two models for lack of clearance to turn the T-handle.

With the Explorer, the #2 Phillips is moved to the main tool set, and replaced by the corkscrew and eyeglass screwdriver on the back. I still get the torque I need, because the #2 has a detent at 90∘ Then, I can also extend it out fully and have room to turn it like a normal screwdriver. Sometimes, it still doesn't work, if the screw is recessed, but it is as good as can be expected on a Swiss Army Knife. (except maybe the CyberTools, with their dedicated bit drivers...)

I'm surprised, but even as a young guy, I use the magnifier from time to time to read small printing in transistors and such.

Of course, there is nothing more fun than to be the guy who pulls out his Swiss Army Knife when no one can find the corkscrew. I instantly become the life of the party.

With all these great things, why did I rate it only four stars? Simply because I believe it is too thick for comfortable pants pocket carry. When I carry this, I carry it in a belt pouch. But sadly, I don't carry it as often as I'd like because often times, I just don't want to wear things on my belt. If that fourth layer isn't a deal-killer for you, then this is a hard knife to beat for practicality.

Perfect set of everyday tools!

I've had my one for longer than I can remember, and it gets fairly heavy use. The only time it's not in my pocket is when security rules prevent it or I'm actually using it.
The only sign of wear is on the cross-point screwdriver, although it's still better than some single purpose screwdrivers I've had.
It's a good balance between versatility and portability - any more tools and it would be too bulky, but I use all of what are there.
