How do I figure out how much luggage I need? Here are some things to think about:

  • Calculate your time

How long will your trip be? Will you be able to do laundry or do you need to bring clothes for every day you’re away?

  • Consider your activities

What will you do on your trip? If it’s a family trip for leisure, think about activities that need extra items. If you’re on a city tour, you might want to add special accessories to your basics for when you go out in the evening.

  • Plan for the weather

What’s the climate like at your destination? Consider warm clothing, umbrellas, hats and boots. Or swimsuits, beach wear, prescription goggles and flip-flops.

  • Do a head count

How many people are going? Are you sharing suitcases or is everyone taking their own? You might want to bring one bottle of shampoo for the group or combine chargers, cables, etc. for all the gadgets in your party.
