Don't get me wrong, this is a beautiful knife. I ordered a customized climber and I'm happy with how it looks and with most of the functions but there is one major problem (for me). I chose this knife specifically because the website says it has a locking blade, but it actually does not. I brought this to Victorinox's attention and they say they will credit me for the order, but the website still shows that this has a locking blade. If you are looking specifically for a SAK with a locking blade, this knife isn't it.

Good Knife, but not a lockable blade

Quality it's not as 25 years ago. That plastic cover is damage right in time you touch. It is a pocket knife and wearing in pocket damages that pretty Red and Black  swiss knife. 25years ago I got same knife and that Red plastic cover was always best looking love color. Hope in future Victorinox brings back that father old quality swiss knife.

Almost perfect

J'avais un cahier des charges précis, je cherchais un couteau (pour offrir) qui : 

- a les ciseaux,
- a une petite lame,
- est personnalisable (en vert).

Je sais qu'on peut trouver des plaquettes de remplacement ailleurs (et les mettre sur quasi tous les modèles) mais c'est bien le Climber qui est le plus petit des couteaux de taille moyenne qui répond à mes attentes.

Il s'agit ni plus ni moins qu'un Huntsman (mon favori) sans la scie : le Climber est donc moins épais d'une épaisseur de scie. Si cette fonctionnalité ne vous est pas utile, vous tenez ici votre compagnon idéal.
C'est un couteau sérieux mais "normal" (en termes de gabarit). Certes il n'y a que 3mm et 15gr d'écart avec le Huntsman, mais c'est une différence de poids dans la poche ou lors de la prise en main.


Sinon, tout le sérieux et la qualité de Victorinox est encore une fois au rendez-vous.

Das Messer hatte bei der Schere einen Fabrikationsfehler. Ich musste es retournieren. Ich hatte es mit einem Rabattgutschein gekauft. Woher bekomme ich jetzt einen neuen Rabattgutschein? Ich will mir dasselbe Messer noch einmal bestellen!

Good balance of size and function

War sehr gut, aber ich habe selber nicht passende bestellt.

I looked at probably 30 different configurations, and the Climber seemed to strike the optimal balance between utility and efficiency. With it I can cut, sew, unscrew, open, pick, puncture, twist, strip, and uncork. All in a package that fits in my pocket and weighs less than 3 oz. Need anymore be said?

This knife has been a constant companion since it was given to me my my grandfather as a teenager. The quality is excellent as is the level of customer service from the UK distributor and Victorinox. After many years use I sent it in to the UK distribuor to ask if they could sharpen the blades professionally. I offered to pay but they refused, sent the knife off to Switzerland at their own cost and even wrote and apologised sending me a complimentary Classic SD when return took a little longer than expected. Needless to say the knife came back with both blades and scissors sharpened to perfection and the mechanism cleaned and oiled. That level of service is basically non existent elsewhere in our throwaway world except for perhaps Cross Pens: outstanding. I have gone on to buy a Swiss Champ and a Pioneer X: both of which are amazing too.

I am NOT an outdoorsman. I rarely leave my city. I work in an office. I do go on hikes from time to time.I have never needed a saw , but I often need scissors and Victorinox makes GREAT scissors. I thought I would not use the corkscrew but once I ordered a Victorinox eyeglass screwdriver that goes in the corkscrew it made the corkscrew very important. I like the hook for getting leverage when pulling on a string or wire, or carrying paint cans. I use the small blade for opening packages and everyday cutting but save the large blade for heavier work.  The small screwdriver works as a Phillip's in a pinch and the large flat head is always great for prying things open or to scrape at things. I use the Reamer/awl for scraping, or pocking holes in many things, and the tweezers are a MUST. I dont use the toothpick for teeth, I use it for getting at little things I may have dropped into a crack or to maneuver a tiny object . I am a city guy, Dad and Grandpa so I use my Victorinox for cutting hockey tape, fixing glasses, opening packages, getting out slivers, snipping threads, turning screws and cutting rope. So for me its all about the scissors , screwdrivers , and tweezers. The Climber is all of that and it small enough to sit comfortably in my pant pocket. I also love that people dont get scared when I bust out a Swiss army knife. Its a great tool and an essential every day carry .

great for a city slicker

Hatte schon meherer Victorinox aber dieses Model find ich persöhnlich weit und breit das beste Taschenmesser. Vom Gewicht her und von den Funktionen ist es absolut top. Schön schmal, liegt super in der Hand und es hat effektiv alles dabei was ich so brauche. Ich hab meinen Begleiter doch noch gefunden :-)

Ich habe mir dieses Messer im Amazon Victorinox Shop gekauft und was soll ich sagen es ist einfach ein super alltagsbegleiter. Habe die Griffschalen gegen die plusschalen getauscht und noch Stecknadel und mini Schraubendreher hinzugefügt einfach spitze.

I've been carrying the SAK Sportsman for years and love it. But, I think that the Climber embodies the expectations of most people who want a Swiss Army Knife. Mainly its the scissors I think, but the general tool selection on the Climber puts it out front of the bigger, bulkier SAKs that pile on tools that don't see much use. I added the eyeglass screwdriver and a very small carabiner to my climber and am quite pleased with its usefulness. As an aside, I added Ruby scales to dress it up a bit. You can't go wrong with this knife.

ce couteau es génial et super pratique. Il s'oublies dans la poche les outils sont utiles et efficaces.(le crochet je l'utilise pour soulever des sac de courses pour pas me cisailler les doigts ou j'ai entendu pour enlever les enjoliveurs des voitures et défaire quelques noeuds).Ce victorinox ne me quittes pas il es utile pour environnement urbain ou pour pour mes activités extérieures(escalade, randonnée).il lui manque la scie peut être pour couper un peu de bois mais je vais pas trop feu par contre il parait que le derrière de la scie et un bon firestick.
J'ai hesité avec le Hiker ou le Huntsman  il faudrait que je les teste pour comparer

Egal, ob man jetzt auf die Idee kommt mit einer weiblichen Person und einer Flasche Wein am Rand des Waldes zu Campen, eine äußerst widerspenstige Verpackung zu öffnen, eine Flasche mit einem Kronkorken zugänglich zu machen, einen Packen Altpapier zum Entsorgen tragen usw. usw. usw.

I carry this knife everyday for around 10 years now and I absolutely love it. The knife packs just the right set of tools everyone would need in daily life. Being very light and compact it is really very nice for EDC.

So Happy with my Climber!

I bought my Swiss Army Knife over 30 years ago. 
I have used it extensively and all its different functions. 
Being a surgeon I have even used it to perform a tracheostomy on the road side!!!
Last year I sent it for service to Switzerland and they charged £10 and returned the knives and scissor all sharp and looking new. 
Hope it will serve me for next 30 years

I've had two climbers and my current one is a solid blue cellidor scale one 
It's personalised as I had it for my 30th birthday and so is special to me. I also have a matching classic sd I use every day but the climber is a bit bigger and stronger to use for a range of jobs the scissors are excellent as is the corkscrew and large and small knife blades the only tool I haven't used is the shopping hook but the awl is great to punch holes in leather 
I would never be without a victorinox they are your faithful friend in work and life

Toller Allrounder

I think the climber has the perfect balance of tools verses size. The scissors are handy and cut superbly. Using the small knife to open personal mail in a public setting such as a cafe is not upsetting to others. Could not ask for a better bottle opener. Adding the micro screwdriver to the corkscrew has fixed my glasses more than once. A high quality tool for the real world.

The SAK Climber is one of my favorites to carry as Urban EDC.  It has all I need but the nail file!  Mine is a Plus versión and I might correct its downside by changing th hook to one with a nail file on its back.  It would become a Climber Plus N!

I got it in Switzerland and it is very helpful. It has 14 functions which all can be used . There’s 2 sharp blades. The knife is a great souvenir and should be used carefully.

Es la navaja perfecta para usar en el hogar. La tengo hace unos años en mi hogar. Es la preferida de mi mujer. La usamos a diario. Tiene las herramientas que más usamos abrelatas, destapador y lo mejor de todo la tijera.

I have now my second climber due to the other one being stolen. The first one my dad bought me, and then, I loved it so much I didn't even want a hunstman, as this one is lighter, and simply has the exact tools I need. Knife, no better can be found on any other knife, its sharp and robust. It's rather legal to carry, that's what I do, and I love it, the scissors are much better than any pair of scissors I have ever owned. This is not only a tool, but a piece of art. Aesthetics are also iconic and good looking. This one is a clear winner of them all, and the price for it is amazingly low for the masterpiece it is.

It's exactly what I needed

Like this knife much. It is not too thick, and has well balanced set of instruments.

I am using all of them: large and small blades, scissors, bottle and can openers, reamer, corkscrew, tweezers and even hook. Hook helps a lot to open stuck window frame or pull a wooden drawer from old cupboard.

One thing I am really missing in this knife is nail file. Please make a nail file on the back of the hook like in Compact model.

I've given it long thought, and I really think that if I had to give up all of my Swiss Army Knives for just one, it would be a hard choice between the Swiss Champ and this knife.  Based on ease of carry, I really think the Climber might win!  I love the tool selection, and have used mine when I've done some climbing.  The corkscrew has done wonders as a knot remover in climbing shoes and other gear, and hangs from a carabiner like it was designed to do just that. You can't go wrong with this knife...I heartily recommend it!

One of my favorites!

I've bought this Climber to replace the one I was given for my 40th birthday - that was 27 years ago!
That knife has been with me whilst offshore yacht racing, camping expeditions, hunting and shooting in all terrains and weather.
It has, sadly, been lost in the forest, whilst shooting just a week ago. I feel naked without it. The main blade had been sharpened only a hand full  of times in 27 years I'd had it. I lost the pick and tweezers years ago but that knife had helped me out so many times I'd lost count years ago.
Hope to be around for another 27 years enjoyment of my replacement!

Feel the magic

This is the best selling Victorinox knife modell in all of Scandinavia a friend told me, who works for a big detail firm. No wonder. The scissors are large, strong and easy to repair. (Spring is easy to change, if you ever would break it.) Two blades means that at least one will be sharper than the other. Wire stripper will help you jump start your car. Bottle and Can Opener is a must. Hook can be used for thightning shoe laces, carry a parcel, twist metal wire, turns your knife into a smartphone stand and if upgraded to Plus scales you can lock the pen in it´s slit, which makes it so much easy to write with. Corkscrew has 43 different uses according to the US Marines, it can be equiped with a minature screwdriver (not included, but recommended for people who wear glasses.) There is a tiny hole at the base of the corkscrew for a needle. (Just incase those "sprayheads" in front of your cars window clogg up.) You can get original Plus scales online, and that will make you able to add a pen to this knife. There are also glow-in-the-dark scales. Red scales makes the knife easy to find in snow, brush or even under water. To prolong the life of the scissor-spring, store the knife (long term) with the scissors in the "open" position. Probably one of the best pocket knives for everyday use in an urban enviroment. Not to big, but covers about 85% of your needs. If you live in the country however you might want to consider a modell with a saw and/or a metal file.
