Sehr gut nicht zu Gross die Richtigen Funktionen, scharfes Messer, Liegt gut In der Hand. Die Entriegelung des Messers nicht Optimal hängt manchmal an Bei der Hosentasche. Nagelfeilen Fläche etwas klein könnte zudem noch mit einer anderen Funktion kombiniert werden bspw. mit einer kleinen Eisensäge oder einem kleinen Messer.

Richtige Funktionen

Ich trage das Taschenmesser grundsätzlich in der vorderen Hosentasche an einem Victorinox Gürtelclip.
Daher ist es mir wichtig, dass das Werkzeug nicht dick aufträgt und unauffällig in der Hosentasche verwahrt ist.
Taschenmesser von Victorinox trage ich schon lange an mir und ich bin überzeugt, dass dieses Taschenmesser die meisten Funktionen hat, die ohne ein großes Werkzeug aus dem Werkzeugkasten nutzen zu müssen, besitzt.
An die ergonomischen Griffschalen und den doch recht weit hervorstehenden Sicherungshebel für das Messer musste ich mich gewöhnen.
Aber letztendlich ist es ein sehr gutes und stabiles Werkzeug und sollte aus meiner Sicht auch in die Kollektion der Offiziersmesser aufgenommen werden.

Viele Funktionen und trägt nicht dick auf

I have most of the Evolution models  & The S17 with the wood saw is the ideal Evolution model for the outdoors. The Evolution models in general are so compact & pocket friendly, & so when I get all those tools & it still feels light in the pocket, I'm a happy customer. The blade lock is very efficient & no it doesn't get in the way if you hold the knife they way you should. Oh & BTW, it is medically recommended to keep at least 1mm of finger nail, & so if you do that you won't struggle to get to the scissors. Go for it

Outdoor perfection

The locking blade is superb.  The release mechanism lever is placed perfectly for one hand operation when closing the blade.  You hold down the lever with your thumb to unlock it, and then swing the blade down with your index finger.  The blade stops halfway confidently so you can move your thumb out of the way, and then easily swing your thumb around to the back of the blade to push it down to closure the rest of the way with your thumb or index finger.   I was considering the Huntsman which has all the outdoors tools I wanted, but this one has a comparable complement of tools but with it's locking blade, and more compact profile due to it's 85 mm size is more ideal for me.  

I preferred this more classic and elegant all red scales over the rubberized EVO Grip version.  Even with it's 4 layers, this is surprisingly light weight, and with it's shorter 85 mm length it's quite comfortable in my pockets.  Good for EDC. I like the Wenger style scissors.  The auto locking feauture of the screw driver/bottle opener is great.  

A lot of people complain about the protruding locking mechanism release lever, but it doesn't bother my gripping of the knife at all in either direction.  The placement of the lever does not bother me from accessing the scissors either.  If I slide my thumb down from the very front edge of the scissors, it's easy to find the finger nail slot and lift up too.  I would have preferred a 2nd small blade over the nail file, but all in all a brilliant package, love it.

Awesome EDC that has everything I want

Warum, werde ich kurz erläutern. 

Ich hatte seit meiner frühen Jugend ein Camper, welches leider Gottes verloren ging. Also musste ich ein neues beschaffen und habe mir die Entscheidung nicht leicht gemacht sondern TAGE damit verbracht mich selbst zu ergründen um die richtige Entscheidung zu treffen. Einfach das Camper nachkaufen wollte ich nicht, sondern suchte eine Verbesserung. Ich habe noch andere Taschenmesser, wie das Herkules, aber ich brauchte etwas handliches für jede Tag. 

Zuerst zu den meistgenannten Kritikpunkten an den Wenger Messern: 

Die Schere bewegt sich bauartbedingt auf und ab.....Nun ich weis nicht, was ich alles mit einer Taschenmesserschere schneiden will, aber es ist erstens nicht so schlimm wie alle tun, zweitens schneidet sie besser als die Victorinox Schere wegen der Zahnung und drittens ist das Konzept viel robuster als die Feder....

Zweiter Kritikpunkt ist oft die Sicherung. Für mich völlig unverständlich. Diese schöne Sicherung ist doch tausend mal besser als die fummeligen Liner Locks der großen Victorinox. Sogar das Junior von meinen Kindern hat es, und sie kommen zurecht. 

Dritter Kritikpunkt ist, das die Sicherung die Schere schwer erreichbar macht....das lasse ich für kleine Kinder gelten, aber nicht für Erwachsene.


so und nun zu den positiven Punkten. 

Zuerst wollte ich wissen, was ich wirklich brauche und nicht was ich haben will: 

Messer: (für alles mögliche)
Säge: (und wenn Sie mich nur an das Camper erinnert und daran, dass ich mal wieder in der Natur machen sollte)
Stechale: Gürtel....ich werde immer fetter
Korkenzieher: Quasi nie ein Korken, aber es gibt keinen besseren Knotenöffner auf dieser Welt. Der Mehrzweckhaken kommt da nicht ran.
Dosenöffner: Ich habe keinen anderen im Haushalt und mit dem Ding gehen hervorrangend Kreuzschrauben auf und zu, also kein Schraubendreher notwendig.
Nagelfeile: auch hier die einzige die ich auf Anhieb finde im Haus und häufig benötige.
Schere: immer wieder auch für Nägel oder schnell was für die Kinder ausschneiden. 
Flaschenöffner: Flaschenöffner zum Bier öffnen, Aale zum Gürtel vergrößern......kapiert?

Ein wichtiger Kaufgrund war dann noch die Feststellmöglichkeit der Klinge. Sehr schön gemacht, da das Messer erst in einem Winkel stoppt, bevor es ganz eingeklappt werden kann. Die Sicherung macht das Messer viel hochwertiger und natürlich sicherer. 

Ein weiterer Kaufgrund war die Handlichkeit. Die Evolution sind etwas kürzer als die anderen Victnx. Es so schön kompakt und doch nicht schwer. Es stört nicht in der Tasche und ist ein absolut vollwertiges Taschenwerkzeug. Das war die größte Enttäuscheung am Herkules, dass ich dbzgl. falsch eingeschätzt hatte, viel zu groß fürs einfach dabeihaben. Im Endeffekt war die Handlichkeit auch der Grund, warum ich auf eine Zange verzichtet hatte. Das macht das Teil dann doch recht fett und es wäre wieder eher ein haben wollen als brauchen gewesen. Zangen hab ich genug daheim...

Letzendlich war auch ein kleines bisschen Sentimentalität dabei, weil ich damit noch ein kleines bisschen Wenger in den Händen halte. Ich bin damit groß geworden, wenn ich auch nie eines besessen hatte, weil ich mein Camper immer cooler fand. Was mit der Firma passiert ist, empfand ich als sehr bedauerlich. 

Ich bin also wunschlos glücklich damit und hoffe, mit meiner übertriebenen Bewertung machen weitergeholfen zu haben.

Ich habe seit 12 Jahren ein kleines Classic sd am Schlüsselbund. Ich war immer begeistert, bis ich das S17 als Geschenk erhielt. Der Sicherungshebel vom Messer stört beim ausklappen der Schere und beim Entschichern habe ich mir in den Daumen geschnitten. Dann schnappte die Klinge in die 90°position, weil die Sicherung zu dicht an der Klinge sitzt kommt man zu mit dem Daumen in die Klinge.
Der Sicherungshebel muss an die Seite verändert werden.
Ich empfehle das Huntsman, welches ohne Klingensicherung ist.
Das S17 ist zu klein für eine 2 Hand-Messerklinge.

Fantastic piece of equipment

Over time I have bought several Swiss Army Knives and have been delighted with their practicality and quality.
As an example can I recount an experience I had several years ago. We were in Queensland Australia returning to a friends house up the Talabudgera Valley into the bush when we were caught out in a severe storm. The road became blocked both ways by a fallen tree. Local Aussies went off in search of help and chain saws. Noticing that the top part of the tree was bushy I pulled out my Swiss Army Army and with the peerless saw systematically sawed through these upper branches until I had cleared sufficient space for cars to pass.
The Aussies were amazed that a mere Pommy had achieved everyone’s release, but I pointed out success was due to the knife!

So practical, an icon among pocket knives

Macht weiter so. Qualität hat einen Namen und eine Geschichte.

Super Qualtitä und alles dabei, was man sich wünscht

Ich habe das Taschenmesser als Geschenk für meine Tochter (15 Jahre) erworben. Die Verarbeitung ist gewohnt hervorragend und es ist mit seinem Funktionen auch sehr gut geeignet für ein Mädchen.

gewohnte Spitzenqualität

I am not quite ready to replace this tool although it is a little worn, with every part (other than the keyring) seeing considerable use.

The corkscrew is a little bent but I can't hold anyone else responsible for that. I am sure that if I had stuck to removing corks from bottles it would be fine.

The saw blade is also a little bent and requires some gentle persuasion to fit in its slot. Then again, it has seen so much use that it is a wonder that the teeth still remain. But they do, and it still cuts when I need it to.

The scissors were, however, a source of dosappointment as the spring broke after only 10 years of regular use. They do still work and have helped with everthing from first aid to cutting out homemade christmas cards.

Disappointingly, a small portion of the red cover has now broken off. I know that may seem unreasonable but after 36 years of regular use I could not help but hope it would have lasted a little longer.

If you expect to use this knife regularly for over 35 years with no wear and tear, then you will be sorely disappointed. If, however, you value a tool that won't let you down even when it is a little battered, then buy it.
